The SDAGA was founded in 1945 by a small group of San Diego area Ad men. Tournaments are held each month awarding prizes for Low Gross, Low Net, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Guest Flights. We have women members (Hey, it's the 90's), in fact we have a woman on the Board. Highlighted tournaments are our annual Christmas event which features dinner for members and their spouses, etc., and huge prizes. We also stage a very popular 2-day tournament each year in Palm Springs.
We have the "Unk" award given to the member who has made the most significant contribution for the year, the Founder's Trophy to the winner at our Christmas tournament, among all previous Low Gross winners for the years. Our highest honor is a life-time membership, reserved for long-time members, who have made truly outstanding, consistent contributions over the years. We have 4 Life-Time Members.
We raise money for our NAGA Team at each tournament with a NAGA Circle... an 8 foot ring on a par 3. And, we have a scholarship program, now in its 8th year. We raffle off a 4-some with carts at each course we play, raising about $5,000 each year. We have about 12 kids in college from Vanderbilt to Stanford.
Membership is currently at 130 and growing. 75% of our membership must be from the Marketing/Advertising fields, others are in an associate member category. This is monitored monthly. We employ a salaried Executive Director and the SDAGA is in an extremely sound and well managed financial condition.
We issue a monthly newsletter and colorful monthly tournament entry flyers. Members are notified of their index changes by way of their address label each month.
